The American Society of Women Accountants, also known as ASWA, is a professional organization that works toward the advancement of women in accounting and finance areas. Founded in 1938, the society has more than 100 chapters throughout the United States. It consists of over 4,000 members that include financial officers, controllers, academicians, financial analysts, data processing consultants and college graduates. The society offers various support services and scholarships for displaced homemakers. It also provides business management skill development programs and job referral services for its members. Additionally, the society conducts meetings, workshops and conferences and offers certified educational programs. The American Society of Women Accountants is headquartered in McLean, Va.
