The Department of Inspections and Code Enforcement is a part of The Parish of Jefferson. It is responsible for the enforcement of the Jefferson Parish code of ordinances along with reviewing and issuing building permits for all structures, signs and trash dumpsters. The department also handles weed control, lot fill, abandoned vehicles and building abatement issues. The Department of Inspections and Code Enforcement offers building and site plan reviews, as well as provides building inspection, electrical, plumbing and mechanical services. Its zoning section enforces laws pertaining to the use and upkeep of private properties. The Department of Inspections and Code Enforcement s dangerous building abatement section provides the repair and removal of dilapidated buildings.
