Established in 1854, Mississippi School for the Deaf consists of elementary and high school divisions. The school offers education to students in prekindergarten through grade 12. It has a full-time guidance department that provides advocacy and guidance to students. The school offers three different graduation options that include certificate of life skills, and high school and occupational diplomas. Mississippi School for the Deaf provides classes in business technology, and graphic and culinary arts. Its family and consumer science department provides classes in money management, nutrition and health, clothing design, physical wellness, housing and home interiors, and child care and managing. Additionally, the school s horticulture department offers classes in plant propagation, pest management, floristry, greenhouse crops, vegetable production, and nursery and landscape plants.
