20/20 EYECARE was established in 2005 by Dr. Smitesh J. Patel, however, it was planned many years prior. When Dr. Patel graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2000, he had envisioned starting a state-of-the-art, high quality private practice. He began his career with a local chain store until the right opportunity was available.
20/20 EYECARE has grown into one of the largest and most successful independent practices of optometry in the region. 20/20 EYECARE is a clinical investigator research site and has conducted many FDA clinical trials to develop new contact lens designs. The eye center also serves as a training center for optometric students from the UAB School of Optometry.
