Akal Security was founded in 1980, as a professional security services provider to businesses throughout New Mexico. By 1985, it had signed contracts with companies in Texas, Arizona, Nevada and California. Today, Akal has major clients throughout the United States, including the Baltimore-Washington International Airport, City of Phoenix, City of Tucson and major health care facilities throughout Southern California. In 1987, Akal began providing contract security services to the U.S. government, receiving contracts to protect critical national facilities, such as the White Sands Missile Range, the U.S. Army Records Center and the Drug Enforcement Agency s International Intelligence Center. In 2004, the Department of Homeland Security awarded a contract to Akal to protect more than 100 government buildings in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Akal Security maintains branch offices throughout the Southwest and Midwest, including one in Indianapolis.
