The Albany County Probation Department operates and maintains various juvenile facilities and programs in Albany, N.Y. The department undertakes various projects that include background investigations of criminal offenders and preparation of social history reports for the Albany County Superior Courts. It also has an adult court investigations and services division that performs a variety of duties, including preparation of sentence reports, drug diversion supervision, change of plea reports, and stepparent adoptions and abandonment reports.
