Known as Day 1 at Allergy & Asthma Consultants, rush immunotherapy is conducted in one four-hour session in Dr. Robert Onder's office. The protocol delivers progressively higher doses of allergen to achieve a dosage that provides relief to symptoms. Day 1 safely accelerates the process of achieving the optimum therapeutic dosage, resulting in more rapid allergy relief. Patients feel better much more quickly, rather than having to wait the typical six to nine months to achieve the dosage right for them. Day 1 patients will need to continue weekly visits for about eight weeks and can then scale back to monthly visits. Day 1 jump-starts long-term treatment and overall saves patients from many weekly visits and months of misery. Insurance usually covers the cost of Day 1, which patients in the St. Louis area can access only through Dr. Onder at Allergy & Asthma Consultants, P.C Over 400 patients have graduated from Day 1, with excellent results. Our patients have seen a very low reaction rate.
