Founded in 1920, the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) support and promotes its member colleges. The association works with federal departments and agencies, including the Department of Labor, Department of Energy, Department of Commerce, Department of Homeland Security and National Science Foundation to inform and formulate state policies. It supports and promotes member colleges through programs, research, information, policy initiatives and strategic outreach with the help of businesses, industries and the national news media. The American Association of Community Colleges is focused on providing global and intercultural education, recognition and advocacy, and economic, leadership and work force development for community colleges. It maintains its headquarters in Washington, D.C.
