Founded in 1952, American Counseling Association is a nonprofit professional and educational organization. Based in Alexandria, Va., it is one of the largest associations representing professional counselors in various practice settings across the world. The firm provides leadership training, publications, continuing education opportunities and advocacy services to approximately 45,000 members. American Counseling Association comprises 19-chartered divisions that provide leadership, resources and information to specialized areas and/or principles of counseling. It has 56-chartered branches in the United States, Europe and Latin America.
