Founded in 1899, the American Society of Landscape Architects, is a national association representing landscape architects. Landscape architecture includes the analysis, planning, design, and management of natural and built environments. The society has more than 16,000 members, representing the United States, and more than 40 other countries throughout the world. It promotes landscape architecture at the local, state, and national levels through communication on a wide range of public policy issues, including licensure, surface transportation, environment, historic preservation, and small business issues. The society has a Web site that provides information about landscape architecture, an online directory of landscape architects, and online e-newsletter. Its other resources include annual meeting and exposition, a landscape architecture directory, product guide, practice library, technical information series, online employment listings, and award programs.
