The American Youth Soccer Organization, also known as AYSO, is a nonprofit sports organization that develops and delivers youth soccer programs. Established in 1964, the organization has more than 600,000 players and over 250,000 volunteers. The American Youth Soccer Organization provides a range of certification courses for its volunteer coaches. Additionally, it offers supplemental instruction programs and organizes camps and clinics throughout the country. The American Youth Soccer Organization provides training for referee instructors, administrators and assessors. It also organizes workshops, training seminars, vendor shows and educational conferences for the exchange of ideas and information. The American Youth Soccer Organization s Very Important Player program offers people with disabilities an opportunity to play soccer at their own pace. In addition, it provides assistance through special funds, designated sponsor products, and uniform and equipment donations, as well as information on acquiring outside resources. The American Youth Soccer Organization maintains its national support and training center in Hawthorne, Calif.
