Amherst Middle School, founded in 1955, is a coeducational school that provides academic classes to more than 800 students in grades six through eight. The school offers various extracurricular activities that include science fair, field day, music concert, art and and field trips. It provides a wide range of athletic activities, such as football, cross country, baseball, tennis, volleyball, basketball, softball, cheerleading, and track and field. The middle school operates through various departments, such as English, foreign language, math, science, social studies, special education, language art, music, reading, and health and physical education. In addition, it provides a media and a counseling center for the students. Amherst Middle School is affiliated with the Amherst Central School District and is located in Amherst, N.Y.
