The Early Childhood Intervention program, also known as ECI, includes a range of support services for infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities. It serves the residents of Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson, Rains, Smith, Van Zandt, and Wood counties in Texas. The program offers a variety of services for children in the areas of social and emotional development; learning and eating skills; assistive technology; nutrition; and physical, occupational, speech and language therapies. Located in Tyler, Texas, the Early Childhood Intervention program s family services feature education, counseling and respite care. The program is administered by the Andrews Center, which is a nonprofit, mental health and retardation center. Established in June 1968, the Andrews Center provides services related to medication management, counseling, substance abuse, jail diversion, transportation and vocational training.
