The Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC) was established over 30 years ago by a group of veterinarians who wanted to provide their clients with quality veterinary care during non-business hours.
We started out with one clinic, one veterinarian, and one technician! Over the years, our hospitals have grown, and we highly value the relationships we’ve built with local veterinarians, pets and owners in the many communities we serve. Today, we employ a wide variety of doctors and health care team members – all specially trained in emergency and critical care--in addition to a growing referral practice for when your pet just isn't feeling like himself.
We understand the anxiety of having a sick pet because all of our doctors and staff are pet owners, too. Therefore, we make everyeffort to keep you “in the loopâ€Â about the care your pets receive, while paying special attention to your needs. We know that you need to be able to trust that, when care is needed, your pets and you will be treated like members of our family.
If your pets need blood work, oxygen therapy, Intensive Care, X-Rays, ultrasound, surgery or any other care that requires immediate attention; we are ready to respond. We are also one of the few hospitals in the state that is prepared to work with pets requiring cancer and hyperthyroid treatment. In addition to good, old-fashioned TLC, we can provide any and all of these technologies to help make your pets feel like themselves again.
Though we are an emergency practice and will never forget our roots, we are forging a future in referral medicine. Critical Care & Internal Medicine (including our I-131 Treatment Facility for Hyperthyroid Cats,) Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, Cancer Care, and Dermatology are just some of the services your pets can receive when needed.
If you have a sick bird, guinea pig, snake, hamster, or ferret, we’re also the only emergency hospital in Minnesota that has over three decades of emergency experience with exotic animals.
