Founded in 1949, the Arizona Academy of Family Physicians is one of the largest medical specialty associations in the United States. Located in Phoenix, Ariz., the association offers an array of member services, such as medical education, public/government affairs programs, practice support, advocacy/communication through a newsletter, quarterly magazine; tobacco use prevention/cessation programs, committee work and networking opportunities. Being a nonprofit membership association, it represents more than 1,500 allopathic/osteopathic physicians, family medicine residents and medical students statewide.
