The Association of American Railroads seeks to keep the railroads of North America safe, fast, efficient, clean and technologically advanced. Its members include major freight railroads throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, which includes Amtrak, Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific. The association works closely with lawmakers and regulators to bring critical rail-related issues to the attention of Congress and other government bodies. It also operates two subsidiaries the Transportation Technology Center and Railinc that together ensure that railroads remain up to date on transportation and information technology. The Association of American Railroads was founded in 1934. Its headquarters is in Washington, D.C.
