Informations
Why see a board certified allergist? An allergist is a pediatrician or internist with at least two additional years of specialized fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology. An allergist is specifically trained to determine what triggers allergic reactions that can cause asthma, sinus troubles, seasonal allergies, food allergies and severe allergic reactions. Allergists focus on preventative care, helping patients retain a quality of life that enables continuing activities that patients enjoy. This is why board certified allergist/immunologists are the best physicians to diagnose and treat allergies and asthma.

An allergist differs from a pulmonologist who focuses on treatment of lung diseases and frequently is in the hospital caring for patients that require hospital treatment. An allergist is also different from an ENT physician who is specially trained on the surgical treatment of the upper airway.

In many cases it is difficult to accurately determine the specific allergic triggers responsible for the patient's symptoms. An allergist has at least five years of training after medical school that focuses on the evaluation and management of allergic diseases. All of the physician's at the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Clinic are certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and are all participating in the rigorous Maintenance of Certification program required by this board. This ensures that we continue to provide the most up to date, state of the art care for our patients.
