The City of Atlanta s Law Department is a team of legal professionals providing legal services to the city of Atlanta. It provides legal advice, counsel and representation to the mayor, city council members, city officials and departments in all civil matters regarding the city. It litigates all civil matters on behalf of the city of Atlanta; provides written legal opinions on questions of law connected with the interest of the city of Atlanta. It also supervises, administers and performs all claims work. It offers a 12-week summer program to first and second year law students. The selected students provide legal support to the Department of Law attorneys, including research, substantive writing and legal analysis.
