Established in 1949, Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens is a not-for-profit organization in Bakersfield, Calif., that seeks to provide a nurturing and caring environment for children with Down Syndrome. It offers educational and work services for people with developmental disabilities via 19 specifically designed programs. More than 600 adults and 100 at-risk infants are enrolled in the organization s programs.
