Founded in 1947, Baltimore City Community College is a state-sponsored institution that enrolls more than 20,000 credit and noncredit students each year. The college offers more than 35 degrees and 25 certificate programs in fields, such as allied health, nursing, human services, business and information technology. It offers adult education and English as a second language courses in more than 80 communities throughout the city. Its Business and Continuing Education Center offers day, evening and weekend courses for contract training. Its career training programs include health care, telecommunications, information technology, Web site development, hospitality, and professional certification and licensure. Its contract-training clients include the Johns Hopkins Health System, Baltimore City Public Schools, Chase, the University of Maryland Medical System, the Chesapeake Biological Laboratories and the Baltimore City Police Academy.
