The Department of Recreation and Parks is governed by the City of Baltimore in Maryland. The department is responsible for providing environmental, cultural, educational and leisure opportunities. It manages an aquatics division that offers swimming lessons. The department also operates more than 60 recreation centers that host cooking classes, talent shows and gymnasium activities. The Department of Recreation and Parks provides participation opportunities in several athletic activities, such as basketball, volleyball and soccer for youths and adults. In addition, the department manages a senior citizens division that offers support and assistance to over 90 golden age clubs. The Department of Recreation and Parks issues permits for the use of its facilities.
