Baton Rouge Building Inspection is one of the divisions of the public works department of the city of Baton Rouge, La. It is responsible for a variety of services, such as maintaining streets and roads, operating drainage facilities, enforcement of building code, and construction, inspection and approval of building projects. The department also provides maintenance of public buildings, and operation of central garages. Its engineering services for construction projects include designing and supervision of city buildings. The department issues permits to contractors and homeowners for general and structural remodeling, construction additions to existing structures, and electrical, plumbing and mechanical work.
