Bauerstown Volunteer Fire Department is a private, nonprofit, incident response service 501 organization governed and managed by an elected board of directors. Bauerstown offers fire protection to more than 15 million-square-feet of residential and commercial properties and under the guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance. The department employs more than 95 professional firefighters, and also has a ladies membership, the Firebelles. It offers an array of services, including emergency medical services, hazardous material operations, confined space rescue, vehicle extrication, cold water and high angle rescue. The department s members participate in the Pennsylvania Firefighter's Certification program and First Responder - Defibrillator program. Located in Pittsburgh, Bay Bauerstown Volunteer Fire Department utilizes rescue systems manufactured by Genesis.
