Based in Houston, Baylor Eye Consultants is affiliated with the Baylor College of Medicine-Department of Ophthalmology. The department provides eye care facilities and educational programs in ophthalmology residents and fellows, medical and graduate students, research scientists and practicing ophthalmologists. It sponsors various public programs for the prevention of eye diseases and injuries. The department of ophthalmology has more than 30 full-time clinical and research faculty members and over 25 voluntary clinical staff members. It supports multiple programs in vision research, including programs for the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management of ocular infectious and inflammatory diseases. It also supports programs in molecular virology, refractive, cataract and glaucoma surgery; structure, function and diseases of the retinas; ophthalmic genetics; and visual dysfunctions in strabismus and amblyopia. The department provides various amenities, such as academic and administrative offices, research laboratories, an eye clinic and educational facilities.
