Baylor Health Care System was founded as a Christian ministry of healing to serve the health care, education, research and community service needs of individuals. It is a faith-based, nonprofit health care organization that manages a network of hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, senior health facilities, and affiliated ambulatory surgery and primary and specialty care centers. The organization conducts research and development activities through the Baylor Research Institute. It has a work force of more than 15,000 staff members and is one of the largest private-sector employers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
