Birmingham-Southern College is one of the leading educational institutions in Alabama. It is a four-year, private liberal arts college founded in 1856 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Birmingham-Southern College provides degree programs in science, music, accounting, biology, business administration, chemistry, computer science, dance, economics, history, mathematics, philosophy, sociology and Spanish. It administers the Biomedical Research Scholars Program. The college supports the Student Government Association.
