Robert P. Boyle and Fred Wood established our firm in 1966 with a vision to serve their community. Ed Bain joined the firm in 1969 as a law clerk; he earned his J.D. in 1971 and became a member of the firm in 1971. In the 1980s and 1990s the firm and its reputation for quality service continued to grow. Robert Boyle died in 1992. In 2001 Bob Downer, one of the firm's partners at the time, became a Judge of the Charlottesville General District Court. Forbes Reback and Marshall Slayton joined the firm in 2002, forming the core group that has led the community in conservation easement formation, and now in bankruptcy law offering advocacy for debtor rights. Associates Tim Kelsey and Connor Crook bring expertise in transactional and litigation aspects of Virginia law. Tim Kelsey became a partner effective January 1, 2008.
