Brandon Middle School opened as Brandon Junior High School in 1978. The school offers a variety of academic and extracurricular programs, including special education, day treatment, gifted education and English as a Second Language programs. Brandon Middle School has a library that stocks more than 18,000 books, over 50 magazine subscriptions, nearly 2,500 reference books, approximately 600 audiovisual materials, over 700 professional books and more than 25 journal subscriptions. The school provides infrastructure and equipment for various sports programs, such as football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, baseball, softball and field hockey. Brandon Middle School, located in Virginia Beach, Va., also offers health services.
