The Transportation Engineering Department administers the design, construction and maintenance of transportation improvement projects in Florida. The department provides information to the public on flood hazards, floodplain management, and facts and information regarding flood insurance. It also provides construction layout, conventional mapping, vertical control information, and boundary, topographic and route survey services. The department offers consultant negotiation and contract execution, preliminary engineering, title search, bidding, construction and bridge inspection services. In addition, it provides design, implementation, construction and maintenance services for traffic control devices. The Transportation Engineering Department is a part of Brevard County, Fla., which also operates land development, human resources, tourism and planning department.
