Founded in 1911, James D. Burrus Elementary School is a Texas Education Agency-recognized facility. It enrolls students in prekindergarten through grade five. The school s community partners include North Main Church of God & Christ, True Light Baptist Church, Reliant Energy and Tubbs Foundation. The school offers a variety of after-school programs and activities, including band, arts and crafts, chess, dance and basic Spanish classes.
