Business Roundtable, founded in 1972, is an association of chief executive officers of leading corporations in the United States, with a workforce of more than 10 million employees. Member companies comprise more than half of the total value of the U.S. stock market and all corporate income taxes paid to the federal government. The chief executives work on task forces on specific issues that direct research, supervise preparation of position papers, recommend policy, and lobby Congress and the administration on select issues. The task forces and issues undertaken by the members include civil justice reform, corporate governance, education and the workforce, energy, environment, technology and the economy, fiscal policy, health and retirement, international trade and investment and security. Business Roundtable is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
