CBCC is a community initiative of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University. We began with a generous grant from the Avon Foundation, which has remained a key partner since CBCC welcomed its first patient. CBCC works closely with community clinics, community-based organizations, and healthcare providers dedicated to reducing breast cancer mortality. We have partnered with Washington Hospital Center, whose radiologists interpret our patients' mammography results. The Hospital Center also provides clinical and administrative services, such as providing CBCC with an on-site, certified mammography technician and supervising overall management of CBCC's radiology operation. CBCC is clinical partners with Regina Hampton, M.D., FACS. CBCC is the only community-based breast cancer screening clinic in the DC metropolitan area-perhaps the nation-that provides screening and navigation services to women, regardless of their ability to pay. We have dramatically increased screening rates since 2004, and we are detecting cancers at twice the national average. Capital Breast Care Center is a licensed, FDA-certified mammography facility, accredited by the American College of Radiology.
