Carmel Mountain Preschool, established in 1983, is a private preschool and kindergarten. It offers an early literacy curriculum for preschool, and is governed by the Poway Unified School District. It is a coeducational school and enrolls more than 250 students. The school s program for 2-year-old children focuses on language development and includes daily activities, such as story times, art, and indoor and outdoor play. Components of its prekindergarten program include letter knowledge, print awareness, phonological awareness and oral language development. Its daily lessons for kindergarten children incorporate mathematics, art, music, social studies and science. The school also organizes summer camp program with engaging activities, swimming and weekly field trips. Carmel Mountain Preschool is a member of the Association of Boarding Schools and is located in San Diego.
