Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy is a 196-bed health care facility that was established in 1906 by the sisters of Mercy as the first catholic hospital in North Carolina. It is a part of the Carolinas HealthCare System, which is one of the largest public health care systems in the United States that owns, leases and manages more than 20 rehabilitation hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory surgery centers, home health agencies, radiation therapy centers and physical therapy facilities in North Carolina and South Carolina. Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy provides a range of services, such as emergency room care, surgery and rehabilitation. In addition, it serves as the home various specialty services, including the Heart Center, Lung Center, Sleep Center, Southeast Pain Care and several others. The medical center is located in Charlotte, N.C.
