Carter's designs, sources, manufactures and markets baby and young children's apparel. The company has three cross-functional product teams focused on baby, sleepwear and play clothes. Carter's operates more than 180 Carter's retail stores located in outlet and strip centers throughout the United States. The company also licenses its brand names to other companies to create a collection of products, such as bedding, hosiery, underwear, shoes, room d cor and toys. Carter's sells its products under the Carter's and Carter's Classics brands in its wholesale channel that includes approximately 370 department store, chain and specialty store accounts. The company also sold its products in the mass channel under the Tykes brand in approximately 1,300 Target stores and sells products under its Child of Mine brand in approximately 3,100 Wal-Mart stores in the United States. In fiscal 2004, it replaced the Tykes brand name in Target stores with its Just One Year brand. Carter's maintains a location in Atlanta.
