The Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania is anonprofit consortium of hospitals that focuses on the advancement of emergency medicine through research, education and air medical transport. The center's member hospitals include the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Shadyside, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, UPMC Mercy Hospital and Altoona Hospital. It works threough STAT MedEvac, which is an air carrier that arranges and coordinates the operations of air ambulance services. The center operates a division, Emed Health, promotes prevention and disease management using several emergency medical service agencies. It is a member of The American Heart Association.
