The Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) at UPMC maintains more than 10 locations throughout western Pennsylvania and employs over 80 professional staff members. The institute provides community-based care and utilizes advanced technologies for the treatment of various types of heart and vascular diseases. The Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) at UPMC provides general, preventive and rehabilitative cardiology services. It administers the Advanced Cardiac Imaging Program, which provides echocardiography services through the utilization of advanced ultrasound systems. The institute also coordinates the Cardiac Electrophysiology Program, which offers treatments for arrhythmias and other heart disorders that are associated with incidents of sudden death. The Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) at UPMC operates the Advanced Heart Failure Center, which is one of the largest heart disease treatment centers in the United States.
