The Central Maryland Ecumenical Council (CMEC) is the successor of Maryland Churches United. It has been in existence as CMEC since 1985 and as MCU since 1970. It grew out of the Maryland Council of Churches, established in 1937, which in turn was the child of the Baltimore Federation of Churches in 1919! We are affiliated with the National Council of Churches of Christ, USA. Denominations and congregations in the Central Maryland Area (Baltimore City, and Baltimore, Harford, Carroll, Howard and Ann Arundel Counties) are welcomed as members.
