Founded in 1794, Alexandria Library offers several programs of literary interest, such as the Latin American Book Discussion Group, Great Books Discussion Group and Book Clubs. The library also offers more than 30 Book Clubs to Go! kits that provides patrons and book club members with everything they need to begin and run a book club of their own. Alexandria Library maintains a multimedia collection, including CDs, DVDs, cassettes and video tapes. The library has a staff of more than 70 employees. It offers meeting rooms to commercial organizations and nonprofit community groups. Alexandria Library also provides Internet stations in the children's room in each of its branches. In addition, it offers computers for word processing and accessing the Internet. The library arranges a range of programs for children, families, teenagers and youths.
