ABOUT COAST FAB Winning professional racers around the world know that their performance and safety are both ultimately dependent on the quality of the components used in their vehicles. Part of the winning edge comes from knowing where to find the 'right stuff' necessary for use in critical applications. For over 24 years, Coast Fabrication has specialized in providing race-proven aerospace hardware and expert fabrication services to teams, constructors, and suppliers from all forms of motorsports, as well as to aerospace and automotive companies. Our reputation has been built on our commitment to provide the best service possible on the highest quality products. After the 1985 racing season, Mike and Jeff Heywood left AAR to establish Coast Fabrication. Over the last quarter century, Coast Fabrication has become the most trusted source for the aerospace hardware and other related products used in the professional auto racing industry. Jeff Heywood, a Southern California native, began his motorsports involvement in 1955 at the age of 4 driving quarter midgets. Over the next 30 years, Jeff competed successfully throughout the United States driving midgets and sprint cars. During the 70s and 80s, Jeff was one of the top drivers racing non-wing sprint cars and midgets in CRA and USAC events around the country. Jeff learned the fabrication trade from racing legends such as Grant King and Bill Stroppe. In 1980 Jeff joined Dan Gurney's All American Racers where he worked for one of fabrication's all time greats, Phil Remington. Over the years, Jeff has built almost every conceivable racecar component and is a true craftsman. In January of 1986 Jeff joined Mike Lang to co-found Coast Fabrication. As lead fabricator, Jeff has turned out countless interesting and challenging projects and is the originator of the ultra lightweight racing muffler. Gary Donahoe began his auto racing career in the 1970's crewing on a wide variety of racing vehicles and doing some driving as well. In 1984, Gary joined Dan Gurney's All American Racers as a crew chief on the Toyota-sponsored racecars competing in the IMSA Camel GT Championship. In 1990, Gary was promoted to race team manager. He remained in that position throughout AAR's dominant years in GTP competition and the first 2 seasons of Toyota powered Indycars. After 14 years at AAR, Gary accepted a new position as the technical director for the Indy Lights Championship Racing Series. In late 2007 Gary re-joined his former AAR teammates, Mike and Jeff, at Coast Fabrication. Gary performs administrative duties and uses his racing knowledge and experience to assist customers with ultra lightweight racing mufflers, ITG air filters, and fabrication projects. Donny Franco got the motor racing bug while attending University of California Irvine. His first racing job was in 1998 when he began working at Swift Engineering on their CART Indycar project. In 2001, Donny joined Coast Fabrication. Donny is extremely well versed in aerospace hardware and his tireless efforts help to ensure that Coast Fabrication's customers around the world can continue to rely on our services and expertise.
