The College Democrats of America is the official student outreach arm of the Democratic Party. Founded in 1932, it is one of the largest student political organizations in the United States. It trains and recruits thousands of new grassroots activists for the Democratic Party in hundreds of college campuses. In election years it mobilizes student voters and recruits volunteers for the party s campaigns. College Democrats have chapters on more than 1,500 campuses nationwide that use canvassing, phone banking and organizing peer-to-peer youth outreach efforts to support the Democratic Party. Its base-vote caucuses serve outreach and organizational functions within its network and include the African American, Hispanic, Native American and Women Caucus.
