Suicide Prevention Service is part of the Community Mental Health Department, Ottawa, Mich. and administered by the county government. The mission of mental health is to provide quality mental healthcare services that will maximize self-sufficiency and self-reliance in persons whose functioning is impaired by developmental disabilities or mental, emotional disorders. Some examples of critical incidents that require community mental health are vehicle accidents, accidental deaths, crime victimization, fires, workplace violence, suicides and natural disasters. Fees for services are assessed based upon family income and number of dependents, using a sliding fee scale. Mental health services include crisis intervention, evaluation and diagnosis, outpatient counseling and psychotherapy, psychiatric medication services, case management, psychiatric rehabilitation, inpatient and partial hospital services.
