Founded in 1869, The Corcoran Gallery of Art is a privately supported cultural institutions that focuses on American art. Its permanent collection includes works by various artists, including Eugene Delacroix, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Rembrandt, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Andy Warhol. It has a rich collection of American, European and contemporary art works, photographs, prints and drawings. It also operates the Corcoran School of Art and Design that offers various courses in fine arts. Additionally, it provides accommodation and catering services for corporate dinners and parties. It has a restaurant, gift shop and book store. The gallery and its college together have a staff of more than 180 employees. Located in Washington, D.C., the Corcoran Gallery of Art remains closed every Tuesday.
