Bucks County Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependence is an independent, nonprofit organization, providing resources and information about drug and alcohol addiction. Serving more than 30,000 people, the council offers prevention, consultation, education, advocacy, assessment, intervention and treatment services. The Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission fund its programs. Established in 1975, Bucks County s information clearinghouse maintains a library of more than 500,000 books, pamphlets and posters and over 100 videos on alcohol and tobacco. The council provides this data free of cost to community groups, schools, organizations, clinicians and individuals. Its programs include driving under the influence, juvenile alcohol and other drug awareness, mothers overcoming mood-altering substances, student assistance, treatment accountability for safer communities and tobacco control programs. The council s women s community recovery center offers a variety of services for women, including life-skills training, case management, tangible help with housing, career and health management services. It is located in Doylestown, Pa.
