D.Z. Akin's serves an oversized, abundant menu of deli sandwiches filled with ethnic favorites that include cheese blintzes, lox, borscht, bread pudding, chopped liver and potato knishes. The menu also includes more than 130 sandwiches (including triple-deckers) piled high with deli meats as well as complete dinner entrees, such as corned beef and cabbage, roast brisket of beef and stuffed cabbage rolls. The San Diego-based company opened in January 1980. It has expanded its restaurant five times.
