Dave Thomas Education Center, formerly known as North Area Education Center, is an educational institution that was founded in 1986. It is a multipurpose educational facility in Broward County, Fla., that provides a safe and secure environment for students and teachers. The center operates an alternative high school that serves at-risk youths between the ages of 14 and 21, as well as teen parents. Its alternative high school also provides vocational job training and offers mentorship, individualized assessment and personal counseling services. Dave Thomas Education Center additionally maintains a middle school that offers general academic courses in reading, mathematics, language arts, science and social studies. It works in partnership with Broward Community College, Florida Career College, Jan Moran Collier City Learning Library, Museum of Discovery and Science and the Senior Community Service Employment Program. The center maintains a location in Pompano Beach, Fla.
