Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) is a less expensive and more convenient process for removing hail damage, dents, dings and creases than traditional body shop techniques. PDR is relatively quick and maintaines the manufacturers origional finish. PDR utalizes small metal rods to push the dent out from the under side of the body panel. Then there is a tapping down or shrinking of the high spots wherby exact locations of the metal are moved to a precise height. A LED light or florescent repair light must be used in order for the technician to see the necessary minute details. PDR is more of an art than a specific set of skills and thus takes a long time to master; an inexperienced technician can actually cause more damage than he fixes. Some limiting factors to successful PDR repair are the flexibility of the paint and the extent and angle of the damage to the metal.
