Department Genetics

A part of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Department of Genetics offers a range of inpatient and outpatient consultation services. Founded in 2002, the department conducts laboratory and clinical research. It provides a variety of molecular diagnostic and biochemical and cytogenetic testing services. The department offers diagnosis, management and counseling services. In addition, it provides prenatal, pediatric and adult genetic services. The department offers various training programs in clinical and molecular genetics. It serves health care professionals, researchers and the public. The University of Alabama at Birmingham, also known as UAB, manages a staff of more than 19,000 people and serves over 18,000 students.
