In 1972 Northwestern University s Feinberg School of Medicine established the Department of Preventive Medicine. With a location in Chicago, the department specializes in health care education and research programs for students. It offers diagnostic and treatment services for a variety of medical services for various conditions related to women. The Department of Preventive Medicine conducts research work in the areas of epidemiology, cardiovascular diseases, nutrition, behavioral science and biostatistics. The department also provides assistance with disease prevention and control. In addition, it offers postdoctoral research training programs in cardiovascular epidemiology and prevention.
