DTSMission: DTS seeks to facilitate lasting growth and change in families by providing caring, effective, and practical treatment through education, support, and intervention for infants, children, adolescents, and their families. Overview: Developmental & Therapeutic Services, PLLC (DTS) was established in 2011 out of a desire to provide quality and comprehensive mental health care to families in the greater Tulsa area. It is owned and operated by Stephanie Grant, who opened the practice after seeing a gap between agencies who offered therapeutic services and those that focused on preventative services. DTS seeks to close that gap by providing support and assistance for families at multiple stages of need - whether that be prevention and education; support through an adjustment period; or more intensive interventions for trauma issues, longer term behavioral patterns, or developmental concerns. Why Choose DTS? There are multiple counselors, therapists, and mental health agencies in the Tulsa area. There are two primary reasons why we recommend you choose DTS. First, DTS is designed with the flexibility to creatively tailor services offered to your family. From the frequency of sessions to their length. From observations in the classroom to IEP meetings. From direct behavioral interventions in the home to helping you educate other members of your family. It is not our belief that a traditional 50 minute therapy session in an office is always the most effective way to work with your child. Here’s one example of how we are different: If one of the stressors for your family is making it through a grocery trip without a meltdown, if you’re comfortable with doing so, Stephanie will work with you to set up a “field trip”, so to speak, that allows therapeutic interventions to be put into practice (please contact us with questions on the efforts used to maintain confidentiality in situations like this). Second, while many therapists treat children, a good portion of them have only minimal training in child development. Stephanie’s educational training allows her to understand your child’s development and implement effective strategies that many therapists may not be aware of due to their level of training. Unfortunately, a high percentage of therapeutic models, interventions, and practices were designed with adults in mind and without a strong understanding of the developmental functioning of a child, many will lack effectiveness.
